What are my options?

There are many different choices you can make if you notice you are losing your hair. Treatments can range from simple and cheap, temporary through permanent - and it is wise to consider all the options before you embark on a treatment program.

The most important thing is to start taking action early if you notice hair loss. The longer you leave it, the less treatment options you have available and the options remaining are more expensive.

It is also important to know that apart from surgical transplants - all other forms of treatment will require ongoing use to retain the look of a fuller head of hair.

So here is a list of some of the options available.

Do nothing

This is of course an easier choice for men but it is a common choice to do nothing or shave your head in a close crop. Whether you feel comfortable doing this comes down to your individual circumstances but we fully support anyone who chooses to go down this path.

Going natural

The internet abounds in natural treatment options promising miracle cures as well as promising some results. While we cannot speak for these treatments, many ingredients in our products come from natural sources and they do provide a benefit. Our products were developed from over 25 years of research and development to combine just the right ingredients to deliver the best results.

Hair fibres

Are a coloured, powdery keratin fiber that you sprinkle on your hair to help cover thin spots. These coloured fibers temporarily stick to your natural hair to give you the appearance of fuller, thicker hair. Hair Fibers, are a quick fix and only last until you wash your hair. Hair fibers, do not treat or assist with treating hair loss.

Hair Restoration Laser

Low Level Light Treatment known as LLLT is medically-tested and proven to be safe and effective as well as successful in regrowing hair. Defined as a “Cool laser that effectively stimulates the area and causes an increase in the blood flow and causes Photo - Bio - Stimulation.
Unlike many treatments, LLLT works on all areas of the scalp and has been proven to both stop hair loss and regrow hair. It does this by stimulating the hair follicle and increasing blood flow to the scalp by over 50%.
Laser hair restoration can also done in the privacy of your home as well as in clinic.

Hairpieces / Hair systems (colloquially known as wigs)

Hairpieces are designed for those who are extremely thin or bald on top. If you want a thicker, full head of ‘hair’ this can be a great option, however the hair pieces require constant maintenance.
The hair system is glued or taped onto the scalp, and then the hair piece is styled to blend in with your natural hair. Over time the hair system gets clogged with sweat and dead skin and becomes loose. They need to be removed, cleaned and put back on at a clinic. This procedure can be expensive and time consuming needing to be done monthly.

Surgery or hair transplants

Surgical hair restoration approaches include various versions of hair transplantation (taking hair from the back and putting it near the front) or scalp reduction (cutting away bald areas and stitching the rest together). Transplant procedures have improved greatly in recent years. This can be a very costly procedure but they are permanent in most cases.
Ensure you speak to your doctor and only use accredited medical surgical professionals if you are considering this option.
